August Ministry Partner: Support Our Local Schools

Support Our Local Schools! This August, First Lutheran Church is proud to support and pray for our local schools as students, teachers, and staff prepare for a new academic year. Throughout the month, we will lift our schools up in prayer and show appreciation for educators by delivering special treats to teacher lounges and holding a back-to-school blessing on Sunday, August 16.

We invite you to join us in surrounding our local school communities with grace, encouragement, and love. Please consider signing up to provide treats by August 6 and/or deliver treats on August 10 and 11, or volunteering to support the Mobile Banquet meals.

August Mobile Banquet – August 13

The FLC Mobile Banquet will be delivering 280 meals to Fremont High School & Middle School, LifeHouse, and ASPIRE, on Thursday, August 13, from 5:30-6:30pm.

As rising food insecurity impacts more families in our community, our need for dedicated volunteers and donations has never been more urgent! To keep pace with this growing demand and ensure no one goes hungry, we rely on your support to expand our reach and deepen our impact!

Please consider helping to make this possible with your donations of food items, money or time. It’s easy, sign up online or call the office to offer your help! Please have your donations to the church kitchen by NOON on Wednesday, August 12. We are collecting: new hand soaps & hand sanitizers as our extra items this month.

Sponsor A Bible!

Remember receiving your first Bible; how special it was to have your own copy of God’s word. Who taught you how to look up a verse? What book of the Bible is your favorite? You can create that same excitement for one(or more) of our children at FLC. Help FLC fulfill the promise we make at Baptism to place the Word of God in their hands by sponsoring a Bible. Each sponsorship is $25. Donate through the offering, on-line, or at the office. Contact Gina to choose your student. 3 year olds, 3rd graders, and 7th graders will receive age appropriate Bibles on September 13 at both services.

Be A Confirmation Partner!

The Lutheran tradition includes a time in a teens life where they get to make the choice to affirm their baptismal promises. In Baptism, members of FLC promise to raise up the child by worshiping with them, teaching them God’s Word, and working for justice and peace together. Is God calling you to fulfill that promise today? Every other Wednesday night from 7:00-8:30pm, Pastor Greg will lead confirmation using the Lutheran Yes! curriculum. Adult confirmation partners are needed to walk alongside these youth as they dig deeper into their faith and make some promises of their own. This year’s confirmation class could be up to 20 students. Our hope is to have one partner for every student. Contact the office to help!

FLY Furniture Project

We’re excited to share that we’re looking to add more furniture to the youth room! The FLY room is used several times each week for youth events and also serves groups like Chick Flicks, TLC, and The Chosen. Our goal is to create a space that better encourages connection, growth, and community for our youth and small groups. To make this possible, we’re inviting donations to help fund a few additional furniture pieces. Donations can be made by clicking the “Donate Now” button, included with your offering, or dropped off at the office. Many thanks for your support.

Lawn Mowing

We’re all ready for the snow to surpass and the warm temperatures to set in! Enjoy the fresh air and the satisfaction of a freshly cut lawn while serving our church family by joining our mowing team!

Exterior Lawn (Zero-Turn Mowers): Do you know how to operate a zero-turn mower or want to learn how? We need volunteers willing & able to operate zero-turn mowers to mow the outer field areas of the church each week. This job takes 1 person approx. 7 hours or 2 people approx. 4 hours. If you have questions, please contact Dave Poppe (402-619-7141). Click “Sign Up Now” to sign up for Zero-Turn Mowing dates.

All lawn care equipment is provided! Lawn care is usually completed on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday so the church looks nice on Sundays. In addition to mowing, we also need volunteers to help edge and assist with landscape clean up as needed. If you are interested in keeping this corner of God’s creation beautiful, please call the church office.

2026 Sunday Morning Gathering & Altar Flower Sponsors

Fellowship is an important part of Sunday mornings. Sharing our faith stories over coffee and donuts helps us grow as the FLC family. The altar flowers are delivered each week to someone needing a little cheer or celebrating a special event. You will be contacted prior to your week for payment and your special message for the announcements. Call the church office if you need help getting your days reserved. You may include your payment in the offering on Sunday (be sure to designate your payment) or click “Sponsor Payment” to the left and fill out the Miscellaneous Payment section and specify your payment description.
