Summer of Cultivating Kindness

Planning has begun on some special events for gathering and serving together this summer. Click on the button and find one or more ways where you can help. We cannot make these events happen without help from the congregation. What will you be cultivating this summer?

Summer Hospitality

We appreciate all our volunteers who serve communion, greet our Sunday morning guests, usher and host at the Welcome Center. Help us cover hospitality this summer by finding a day that works into your schedule.  One signup is communion only.  The other signup is for the other pieces of hospitality.

Red Cross Blood Drive

June 4

First Lutheran will host a Red Cross Blood Drive in Fellowship Hall from 7:30 am – 12:30 pm on Sunday morning, June 4. This drive is open to the community.

Potluck and Dessert Auction

June 11

Join us for a potluck at after the 10:00 worship service. to kick off our summer schedule. Bring a meat dish and side to share along with serving utensils and your own table service. Water and lemondade will be provided.

Sunday morning we will be having a Dessert Auction. Bidding will end prior to the start of the potluck. We are looking for volunteers willing to donate a pie, cake, cheesecake or other type of dessert for the auction. Use the Sign Up button to let us know what you are bringing. All proceeds will be given to the Fremont Area United Way.

LifeHouse Meal

June 20

First Lutheran serves the meal on the third Tuesday of each month at the LifeHouse shelter (723 N. Broad St). Food needs to be delivered to the shelter by 5:20 pm. Click on the sign up button to see what is on this month’s menu and where you can help.

Zero-Turn Mowers

First Lutheran is in need of volunteers willing and able to operate zero-turn mowers provided by the church to mow the outer field areas around the church. Historically, this was provided by a wonderful congregation family volunteering their time and talents. This will take 1 person approximately 6 hours or 2 people 3 hours.  We prefer it be done Thursday, Friday, or Saturday each week so things look nice on Sunday. Fill out a yellow card or view the signup at flcfremont.org/events.

2023 Radio and Altar Flower Sponsors

Each week our radio broadcast and altar flowers have sponsors who support these important outreach ministries of the church. Our radio broadcast reaches many people who are not able to worship with us in person. The altar flowers are delivered each week to someone needing a little cheer or celebrating a special event. You will be contacted prior to your week for payment and your special message for the announcements. Call the church office if you need help getting your days reserved.

FLC Foodie Meal Ministry

We are trying to build a new meal ministry. This involves a volunteer making or purchasing a meal for someone in need. Once information is received from our Pastor or Deacons about an FLC member needing a boost or some TLC, we’ll ask one of our volunteer foodies to provide a meal. This can be a homemade meal of your choosing or food purchased from a local restaurant.

Athletic Shoe Recycling

FLC is partnering with a company called gotsneakers? to recycle athletic shoes. Shoes that are badly worn are shredded and the materials are incorporated into new products. Shoes with some life left in them are redistributed to markets in which they will continue to be worn. AND, the gotsneakers? company pays a small amount for shoes that are sent in, no matter how worn out they are! Proceeds will support Spoudazo.

Shoes (which must be at least 4.5 inches long) accepted are: running, walking, hiking, court shoes, cleats (rubber only), casual (such as Skechers and Vans).  Any brand is acceptable; they do not need to be name-brand shoes.  Please leave all insoles and laces intact. Bring your shoe donations to the church.

Shoes not accepted are: boots (except hiking), dress shoes, flip flops, sandals, slippers, and water shoes.

Breakfast Club Treats

Every Thursday morning, a group gathers to do some jobs around the church and spend fellowship time with coffee and treats. We are looking for people who would be willing to bring treats to serve to this group. The treats would need to be to the church by 9 am on Thursdays.
