January Mission Focus – The Bridge

Throughout the month of January, KidsFirst giving will focus on supporting The Bridge. Help from the congregation is welcome. We will be collecting donations of travel-size shampoos, lotions, toothpaste and toothbrushes. We will also give a monetary donation. The proceeds from the December Nativity Event and any additional gifts will be given to The Bridge at the end of the month.

FLC Shelter Team Training

New and current shelter team members are encouraged to attend a training session on Saturday, February 4, 10 am – noon, in the Mission Center. Please let us know you are coming with the Sign Up now button.

Zentangle

Sundays, January 29, February 5, 12, and 19

Join us for an introduction to Zentangle Method taught by certified instructor, Diane Harpster, on Sunday, January 29, at 9:45 am. No art talent is needed and you will be amazed at what you can create. If you want to learn and practice more, there will be 3 more sessions on February 5, 12, and 19. Drawing supplies will be available for purchase but are not required for the intro session on January 29.

Athletic Shoe Recycling

FLC is partnering with a company called gotsneakers? to recycle athletic shoes. Shoes that are badly worn are shredded and the materials are incorporated into new products. Shoes with some life left in them are redistributed to markets in which they will continue to be worn. AND, the gotsneakers? company pays a small amount for shoes that are sent in, no matter how worn out they are! Proceeds will support Spoudazo.

Shoes (which must be at least 4.5 inches long) accepted are: running, walking, hiking, court shoes, cleats (rubber only), casual (such as Skechers and Vans).  Any brand is acceptable; they do not need to be name-brand shoes.  Please leave all insoles and laces intact. Bring your shoe donations to the church.

Shoes not accepted are: boots (except hiking), dress shoes, flip flops, sandals, slippers, and water shoes.

2023 Radio and Altar Flower Sponsors

Each week our radio broadcast and altar flowers have sponsors who support these important outreach ministries of the church. Our radio broadcast reaches many people who are not able to worship with us in person. The altar flowers are delivered each week to someone needing a little cheer or celebrating a special event. You will be contacted prior to your week for payment and your special message for the announcements. Call the church office if you need help getting your days reserved.

Breakfast Club Treats

Every Thursday morning, a group gathers to do some jobs around the church and spend fellowship time with coffee and treats. We are looking for people who would be willing to bring treats to serve to this group. The treats would need to be to the church by 9 am on Thursdays.

Sunday Snow Touch-ups

October 30, 2022 – March 26, 2023

We know it will eventually happen…snow will fall on a Sunday morning. We are in need of volunteers to help with keeping the entrances cleared of snow during services on Sunday mornings. This is a great service opportunity for service groups, families, or individuals. It would involve keeping the entrances cleared and salted after the snow removal company does their initial sweep.
